Ha publicado más de una veintena de libros de poesía en diversos formatos y tirajes y ha participado como artista invitada en múltiples foros internacionales, además de trabajar en colaboraciones con proyectos de publicación independiente en Puerto Rico, Estados Unidos y Latinoamérica. Formó parte del colectivo de escritoras Las Poetas del Megáfono en la Ciudad de México entre el 2008 y el 2009. Entre 2009 y 2015 desarrolló junto a Xavier Valcárcel la guerrilla editorial Atarraya Cartonera. En el 2016 creó La Impresora, una editorial de poesía y taller de risografía y experimentación editorial reconocida a nivel internacional, la cual co-dirige junto a la poeta Amanda Hernández. Es fundadora de la Feria de Libros Independientes y Alternativos (FLIA) de Puerto Rico, que recientemente celebró su XVI edición. En 2022 fue nombrada como la artista residente Frank Riccio del Virginia Center for the Book. En 2025 recibió la beca Letras Boricuas para autores puertorriqueños.

Su escritura, a menudo reseñada dentro del marco del ecofeminismo, explora las sutilezas y contrastes de la vida cotidiana puertorriqueña y caribeña. Su poemario Periodo especial (Ediciones Aguadulce & La Impresora, 2019) explora la crisis fiscal de Puerto Rico a través de los espejos socioeconómicos de las Antillas Mayores. Recientemente publicó A mano/By Hand, un ensayo autobiográfico sobre el quehacer editorial (Ugly Duckling Presse Pamphlet Series 2020 y La Impresora/EEE, 2023), y el poemario bilingüe adjacent islands/islas adyacentes (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2022, traducido al inglés por Urayoán Noel).

Puerto Rican poet, translator, and book artist.

Nicole Cecilia Delgado is a poet, artist, translator, and cultural organizer based in Puerto Rico. Her work explores poetry as a material, collective, and everyday practice rooted in solidarity, memory, and care. She is the founder and co-director of La Impresora, a poetry press and Risograph studio dedicated to small-scale editorial production and the support of independent publishing in Puerto Rico, and one of the founders of Atarraya Cartonera, an influential cartonera press active from 2009 to 2015. She’s also a co-organizer of FLIAPR, an independent book fair that fosters horizontal exchange between artists, publishers, and communities. Working across writing, artist books, translation, and community-based publishing, Delgado centers poetry not only as a literary genre, but as an infrastructure for dialogue, learning, and collaboration.

Delgado’s poetry has been published widely in the Americas and Europe. Her writing, often reviewed within the framework of ecofeminism, deals with the subtleties and contrasts of everyday Puerto Rican and Caribbean life. Her collection of poems Periodo especial (Ediciones Aguadulce & La Impresora, 2019), explores the fiscal crisis in Puerto Rico through the socioeconomic mirrors of the Greater Antilles. Her recent pamphlet A Mano/By Hand (Ugly Duckling Presse) is an essay on the attempt “to live with dignity, to achieve real quality of life, to create community in the process and find joy doing so” in a life lived in and through poetry.  Her latest publications are the bilingual poetry anthology Adjacent Islands/islas adyacentes (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2022, translated to English by Urayoán Noel) and Martiempos (2024), resulting from a residency at the Virginia Center for the Book. Her work appears in publications and platforms such as Poets.org, Guernica, The Brooklyn Rail, The Poetry Foundation, and numerous international anthologies.  Her work has been translated into English, Catalan, Polish, German, Galician, and Portuguese; she frequently engages translation as a poetic strategy, reflecting on displacement, archipelagic identity, labor, and the politics of language.

In parallel with her artistic practice, Delgado works extensively as a translator between Spanish and English. She has translated texts for art and cultural institutions, including the Whitney Museum of American Art, MOCA Los Angeles, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico, and the Mellon Foundation. Her translation work is informed by her background in Comparative Literature and Latin American and Caribbean Studies, and by a commitment to ethical, context-sensitive cultural mediation.

Delgado is also an experienced educator and cultural organizer. She has led poetry, publishing, and book arts workshops for institutions such as the Academy of American Poets, Bard Microcolleges, and community and art organizations across Puerto Rico, Latin America, Europe, and the United States. Her work has been presented at documenta 15, international book fairs and poetry festivals, and academic and museum spaces throughout the Americas and Europe. She has received multiple grants and awards and has participated in residencies including Artica Svalbard, the Virginia Center for the Book, and the 92nd Street Y.  She was awarded a Letras Boricuas Fellowship for Puerto Rican authors in 2025.
